GOP chooses gun money over lives
Firearms, especially AR-style weapons, are the leading cause of death of children in our country.
I’ve heard people ask how many children have to die before we ban these kinds of weapons. I have had to come to the conclusion that Republican politicians don’t care. All they care about is the money that is flowing into their coffers from the gun lobby, the NRA and the gun manufacturers.
These politicians pretend they are upholding the Second Amendment in order to manipulate their “base,” or blame mental illness for the deaths, when it’s obvious that it’s really all about the blood money lining their pockets.
They try to make you believe that “guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” Sorry, but people with guns kill people.
No assault weapons allowed out in public, and no more assault weapons being sold, means much less of a chance of innocents being mowed down in a matter of seconds. Factual statistics are available. This is not rocket science.
The only thing that moral people can do is to vote these dangerous politicians out, and to vote people in who care about protecting children.

Election Letters:
A letter mentioning a declared candidate in any 2023 or 2024 local, state or federal elections is considered election-related and limited to 200 words. Election letters must be received at The Gazette no later than 10 days before an election.
Regular letters are limited to 250 words.
Rules for commenting online:
Commenters are strongly encouraged to contain their comments to the content of letters and not to target fellow commenters. The Gazette will not tolerate the following: name-calling; profanity or implied profanity (redacting letters from profanities); threats or implied threats toward other writers or commenters; implied or stated accusations of racism, mental illness, intoxication or sexual deviance; spreading of false or misleading information; libelous statements; comments criticizing a person’s business or personal life; or information revealing the location of a commenter’s home or business. Any commenter who violates these rules will receive one warning via email. After that, the individual’s comments will require pre-approval and commenters could eventually be disqualified from commenting.
