Governor Noem has been a strong advocate of gun rights for a considerable time, and she utilized her speech at the NRA gathering to issue an executive order designed to enhance the safeguarding of Second Amendment rights in South Dakota. A video clip of her speech, uploaded on Twitter, shows her talking about her granddaughter, Addie, who is nearly two years old, and owns these weapons along with a pony named Sparkles. Addie is the daughter of Noem’s daughter Kassidy and her husband, Kyle Peters.

“Little Miss Addie, who is almost two, and Branch who’s just a few months old, they have brought us so much joy. They’ve brought us purpose,” Noem told the gathered crowd. “Now Addie, who you know — soon will need them, I wanna reassure you, she already has a shotgun and she already has a rifle and she’s got a little pony named Sparkles too. So the girl is set up,” the conservative added.

‘Definitely call CPS on the child endangerment confession’

Her remarks generated severe negative feedback online. “Absolutely sickening. How the h*ll is this real life in America?” asked Chris Jackson. “A 2-year-old who pulled the trigger on a shotgun he or she was holding to their shoulder would be knocked down and likely injured,” said Tom Mallory. A twitter user accused, “Guns are drugs. She’s drugging her kids.” “This can’t be real?!? What?!!?” asked PJ Byrne in disbelief. A Twitter user mocked Noem, saying, “‘My toddler can shoot your toddler from 10 paces at the daycare playground….’ – Proud NRA Parent,” while a concerned user said, “What is the phone number for South Dakota’s Child Welfare Services? Someone needs to report this child neglect.” Another one said, “Definitely call CPS on the child endangerment confession.”

One of them took place at the Covenant school in Nashville, Tennessee, resulting in the deaths of three children and three adults. The other shooting happened on April 10 at a bank in Kentucky, where five more people lost their lives.
