Virginia: 2022 Legislative Session Convenes Today

Gun Rights

Today, January 12th, the Virginia General Assembly begins the 2022 legislative session. The anti-gun majority in the House of Delegates, previously bought and paid for by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, is no longer in power. Once again, there is a pro-Second Amendment majority in the House.

Lawmakers have already filed a number of bills to undo the damage wrought over the past two years, including:

  • To protect Virginians from localities creating a confusing patchwork of anti-gun ordinances across the state,
  • To reduce areas where law-abiding citizens are left disarmed and defenseless, and
  • To eliminate the fee for a concealed handgun permit in order to expand access to this fundamental right to all law-abiding citizens, regardless of economic means.

Your NRA will continue to fight to restore Second Amendment rights in the Commonwealth. Our members remain the most powerful political force in American history, and together, we will secure the Second Amendment for present and future generations.
