Hartford, Connecticut is a small city of 120,000 souils, so it is not to be thought that Hartford would be in teh running for murder capitol of the U.S. Still, the reported total of 13 homicides in the first 7 months is a thrid higher than the nine full year homicides before the Newtown School tragedy and the rush to pass poorly conscieved and utterly counterproductive gun laws.
The most likely annual total is 24, . That is a long way from the 36 of the early 1990’2, but even one crime facilitated with a firearm is one too many.
Someday sanity will return to Connecticut, and broken brains like the Newtown killer will be able to get proper care – and the laws that are responsible for Connecticuts vastly higher crime rates will be repealed.
But don’t hold your breath.
