Connecticut is “fortunate” in that it has two of the lowest ranked Senators now serving. Blumenthal was a Connecticut State Senator during the late 1980’s when the Legislature dismantled and largely defunded the State Mental Health System, making horrors such as the murder of a doctors family, a mass murder at a Hartford distributing company, and the Newtown School Massacre.
Of course, Blumenthal is as anti-gun as a black mamba is jealous of its territory’ even though this is the invariable result of the laws he and his fellow Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy are.

As anyone who compares the crime trends after Connecticut’s various adventures with gun control can verify, restrictive gun laws embolden violent criminals, increase the percentage of active criminals who regularly carry a firearm to take advantage of opportunity, and make everyone less safe.
Gun control sent murder rates rising from 1.8 per 100,000 population before gun control to 3.3 in just 9 years, years, and with ups and downs reflecting recessions and gun control drives, to 5.4 per 100,000 in 1992/
After 24 years of patient work by Connecticut’s larges and most law abiding demographic group, murder had dropped to 2.5 [er 2013. the year a young man who should have been institutionalized murdered 25 at Newtown’s Sandy Hook elementary school.

While much of the increase was wiped out by the Trump economy, good times do not last forever, and the evil that Blumenthal has been a part of will be on the books until rationality overtakes Connecticut’s lawmakers.
