Students Unite Against Youth Violence in St. Louis

Hundreds of high school students across St. Louis come together to march against youth violence, responding to the tragic loss of Isis Mahr, a recent graduate and assistant coach who was killed in a gun battle in 2021. The march began at the Wohl Community Center and culminated in a near three-mile procession to Cardinal Ritter, transforming the students’ grief into a powerful call to action against gun violence.

Participants include students from various schools, who aim to honor Mahr’s legacy and advocate for change in their community. Organizers label the initiative a “Movement Not A Moment,” emphasizing the importance of sustained effort in addressing cultural violence. “It does not matter what race, what color, just stop the killing with each other,” remarked student Donald Clark, highlighting the urgent need for unity and action against this pervasive issue.
