Streamlight has just released the ProTac 2.0, the second generation of the company’s highly popular tactical weapon light.
Streamlight has been around for a long time, and the company is well established as a leader in the tactical weapon light industry thanks to global, extensive use of models like the ProTac. Technology marches on, however, and the company has decided it’s time to upgrade the line with the release of the ProTac 2.0.
Better and brighter than ever, the ProTac 2.0 can produce twice the light output as the older versions it’s replacing. While first-generation models like the ProTac HL-X were capable of only a 1,000-lumen output maximum, the ProTac 2.0 now boasts a 2,000-lumen maximum. Despite the higher lumen output, Streamlight managed to not compromise battery life. In fact, the new ProTac has an even longer maximum runtime than its predecessors, capable of 2.5 hours on its high setting and 25 hours on low. It’s powered by Streamlight’s new SL-B50 4,900mAh protected Lithium-Ion USB rechargeable battery pack (directly charged via USB-C).
Streamlight Chief Revenue Officer Michael F. Dineen said this about the new tactical light:
This latest addition to the ProTac series of tactical handheld lights gives first responders, outdoor enthusiasts, technicians and other users an ideal light for everyday use that provides ultra-bright light while not sacrificing run times…They also will appreciate the convenience and ease of charging the new SL-B50 battery pack either inside or outside of the light, via a USB-C charge cord.
The ProTac 2.0 features three brightness settings and a strobe, with the modes controlled using a TEN-TAP programmable switch. Other notable features include its 262-meter beam distance and its tough, IP67-rated aluminum construction. The standard version has an MSRP of $195 and is available now, but Streamlight also offers a version that includes a rail mount.
