Indiana: Gov. Holcomb Signs Carry Permit Privacy Bill

Gun Rights

Yesterday, Governor Eric Holcomb signed House Bill 1323 into law. It prohibits the release of carry permit holder and applicant data to federal entities, except for single entry queries only for individuals who are subjects of criminal investigations or following an arrest. This ensures that such information held by Indiana cannot be used to build a federal registry of gun owners.

NRA thanks Gov. Holcomb for his signature, along with bill author Rep. Craig Haggard and all of the other lawmakers who worked hard to send this bill to his desk. The 2023 legislative session is winding down, and NRA has been successful preventing any new gun control from passing.

Don’t forget: the 2023 NRA Annual Meetings will take place next weekend in Indianapolis. Click here to learn more.
