Connecticut: More Anti-Gun Bills On the Agenda in Hartford

Gun Rights

Connecticut has some of the harshest gun laws in the country, but that is not stopping anti-gun lawmakers from pushing for more.  On Monday, March 6, the Judiciary Committee is expected to take up a trio of bills.  This has never been about public safety.  This is purely about politics, and Majority Democrats simply want to pass more anti-gun bills to satisfy their gun-banning base.

On Monday, the committee will hear HB 6667, which is Gov. Ned Lamont’s signature gun ban bill.  In addition, the agenda will include HB 6816, which calls for microstamping, raises the age to purchase ammunition, and bans body armor.

In addition to the two anti-gun bills, a pro-gun bill, HB 6817, will be discussed and clarifies a person’s right to own, possess or carry a firearm.

We encourage gun owners to testify.  You can do so either in-person or remotely (Zoom or telephone), but you have to register by Sunday, March 5, at 3:00 p.m.   You can do so here:  Webinar Registration – Zoom.  At the very least, please submit written testimony here:  https://www.cga.ct.gov/aspx/CGATestimonySub/CGAtestimonysubmission.aspx?comm_code=JUD
