Wisconsin: Gov. Evers Vetoes Bill to Prevent Frivolous Lawsuits

Gun Rights

In a move that surprised no one, Governor Tony Evers has vetoed another pro-gun bill that the Legislature sent to his desk. He is determined to show his disregard for the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Wisconsinites.

This time, it was Senate Bill 570, to protect firearm dealers, manufacturers, distributors, etc., from frivolous lawsuits for the criminal or unlawful use of their product, filed by anti-gun extremists attempting to bankrupt them. While federal law currently has this protection, as the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), President Biden has promised to repeal it as a main part of his assault on the Second Amendment. This bill would have added an additional layer of protection in Wisconsin.
