North Carolina Proposes Major Changes to Gun Laws







North Carolina lawmakers introduce significant bills that would alter gun regulations, including proposals to allow individuals to carry concealed firearms without a permit. Senate Bill 50, recently co-sponsored by Senate Leader Phil Berger, marks a notable shift in legislative attitudes since a similar proposal was rejected in 2023.

Among the proposed changes, House Bill 5 would permit elected officials to carry concealed weapons in areas otherwise designated as gun-free zones, sparking debates on safety and responsible gun ownership.
