New Hampshire: Major Legislative Victory for Firearm Purchasers

Gun Rights

On Thursday, May 30th, the New Hampshire House of Representatives passed House Bill 1186, an act relative to firearm purchaser’s privacy. The bill now heads to the Governor’s desk for his signature. NRA members and gun rights supporters are encouraged to contact Governor Chris Sununu and request that he signs this critical pro-gun bill.

HB 1186 prohibits the assigning of a specific merchant category code to the sale of firearms, ammunition, or firearm accessories and provides a civil penalty for violations of this prohibition. If signed into law, this critical legislation protects gun owners’ privacy and ensures that bad actors cannot use credit and debit card transactions to create a gun registry or block cardholders from making gun-related purchases.

The NRA and its members thank lawmakers, especially prime sponsor Rep. Jason Janvrin (R-Rockingham), for supporting Granite Staters’ Second Amendment rights.
