Kentucky: Legislature Adjourns Sine Die from 2024 Session

Gun Rights

Yesterday, the Kentucky General Assembly adjourned sine die from the 2024 legislative session. This session saw a great victory for law-abiding gun owners with the passage of HB 357, which passed into law without the Governor’s signature. HB 357 provides critical protections for gun owners, protecting private purchasing information from third parties by prohibiting the use of firearm/ammunition specific merchant category codes by payment processors.

Your NRA would like to thank Representatives Derek Lewis (R, H-90), Michael Meredith (R, H-19), and Senator Jason Howell (S-01) for leading the charge for this bill’s passage. Additionally, we would like to express our gratitude for House Speaker Osborne, Senate President Stivers, and Senate Majority Floor Leader Thayer in ensuring the bill’s swift movement through both chambers. Of course, we also want to thank all legislators who voted in support of HB 357.

Thank you to all our members and fellow Second Amendment advocated who engaged with their legislators this session. NRA will be back in Frankfort for the 2025 session. Meanwhile, please stay tuned to www.nraila.org and your email inbox for further updates on issues affecting our Second Amendment rights and hunting heritage in Kentucky.
