New Hampshire: Major Gun Hearing Tomorrow

Gun Rights

On Tuesday, March 19th, the New Hampshire Senate Judiciary Committee will be holding a hearing on two important gun bills. NRA members and gun rights supporters are urged to contact the committee and request that they support all pro-gun measures this session and oppose all bills that will restrict our Second Amendment rights.

The bills in front of the committee on Tuesday, are:

House Bill 1186 prohibits the assigning of a specific merchant category code to the sale of firearms, ammunition, or firearm accessories, and provides a civil penalty for violations of this prohibition passed the New Hampshire House of Representatives 203-174. This critical legislation protects gun-owners privacy and ensures that bad actors cannot use credit and debit card transactions to create a gun-registry or block cardholders from making gun-related purchases.

Senate Bill 593 seeks to prohibit private citizens from carrying firearms in New Hampshire school grounds.  New data from the Crime Prevention Research Center shows that 94% of all mass shootings have occurred in “gun free zones.” Despite this fact, anti-gun politicians in New Hampshire want to create more gun free zones, putting innocent children and families at risk. If passed, Senate Bill 593 would endanger Granite Staters by disarm law-abiding citizens and create “soft targets” for violent criminals.
