Utah: Mandatory Storage Legislation Scheduled for Committee Hearing Tomorrow

Gun Rights

Tomorrow, January 23rd, the Senate Judiciary, Law Enforcement, and Criminal Justice Committee will be holding a hearing at 2:00pm on Senate Bill 83, which enacts mandatory firearm storage requirements. Please contact the Senate committee members and ask them to OPPOSE this legislation.

Senate Bill 83 creates an aggressive mandatory firearm storage law that could subject an individual to both criminal and civil liability for unauthorized access. Imagine the victim of a crime, such as a firearm stolen out of home, is now on the hook for the criminal and/or civil liability.

Again, contact members of the committee and urge their opposition to SB 83.

Please stay tuned to the NRA-ILA website and your inbox for updates as this legislation progresses.
