WATERVILLE — A woman was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries Thursday after a three-vehicle crash on Kennedy Memorial Drive.
The crash occurred just before 10 a.m. near the intersection with Carver Street, between Joseph’s Sporting Goods on the south side of Kennedy Memorial Drive and Gagnon Chiropractic on the north side.
Kathleen Tingley, 67, of Belgrade was driving a 2021 BMW on Kennedy Memorial Drive, toward Oakland, and attempting to turn left into the Joseph’s Sporting Goods parking lot when the crash occurred, according to Maj. Jason Longley of the Waterville Police Department.
Tammy Johnson, 37, of Waterville was driving a 2009 Toyota Camry in the same direction and was likely distracted when her car crashed into the back of the BMW and then rolled backward, hitting a 2002 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck operated by Michael King, according to Longley.
Johnson was taken to the hospital with what were considered minor injuries after the air bags deployed inside her car, Longley said.
King, 70, of Waterville was not hurt, according to Longley.
At the scene just after 10 a.m., traffic was brisk as Waterville fire personnel helped clean up debris that was scattered on Kennedy Memorial Drive and a truck operator from Ace Tire & Auto Service was preparing to load the BMW for towing.
The front of the Camry was smashed in and the back of the BMW also was crunched. Traffic was being directed around the vehicles as emergency crews worked the scene.
No charges were filed, according to police.
