Florida: Legislature Adjourns Sine Die from 2023 Session

Gun Rights

On Friday, the Legislature adjourned sine die from its 2023 legislative session. During this eventful session, lawmakers passed NRA-backed constitutional carry. Gov. DeSantis then promptly signed it into law to make Florida the 26th constitutional carry state. Afterwards, the House continued to work to defend the rights of law-abiding citizens by passing House Bill 1543, with an overwhelming majority, to repeal Florida’s age discrimination, in denying Second Amendment rights to young adults. Unfortunately, the Senate failed to take it up before the session ended.

The Legislature did pass House Joint Resolution 1157, to propose adding a right to hunt and fish amendment to the State Constitution. It will be on the 2024 ballot for Florida voters to approve.

NRA will be back in Tallahassee for the 2024 session. Meanwhile, please stay tuned to www.nraila.org and your email inbox for further updates on issues affecting our Second Amendment rights and hunting heritage in Florida.
