Nebraska – Gov. Jim Pillen Signed NRA-Backed Constitutional Carry into Law!

Gun Rights

Attention NRA members and Second Amendment supporters! Governor Jim Pillen has signed the NRA-backed constitutional carry bill, Legislative Bill 77, authored by Senator Tom Brewer, into law! Once the bill goes into effect later this year (approximately 90 days after session ends), law-abiding adults may exercise their fundamental right to carry firearms for self-defense without having to navigate burdensome government regulations.

This is a significant victory for gun rights advocates, and we are proud to have been a part of this effort to protect our Second Amendment rights.

In addition, LB 77 establishes statewide preemption, which gives exclusive power to the legislature to regulate firearms, and prevents a confusing patchwork of varying local laws throughout the state. LB 77 also eliminates Omaha’s discriminatory firearm registration mandate that unfairly targeted only Omaha residents.

NRA thanks Governor Pillen for standing up for the rights of law-abiding gun owners in Nebraska. Let’s continue to defend our Second Amendment rights and keep our communities safe.  NRA thanks the NRA members and Second Amendment supporters who remained vigilant in contacting and urging their lawmakers to defend the rights of Nebraskans.
