Maine: Sunday Hunting Bills to be heard on Monday, April 10th

Gun Rights

On Monday, April 10th, the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee will hold public hearings on three pro-hunting bills. Please click the take action button below to contact committee members and ask them to support Legislative Documents 626, 1166, and 1241.

LD 626 preserves Maine’s sporting heritage and increases sporting opportunities by allowing you to hunt on Sundays on private property with landowner permission. This bill provides more opportunities for young Mainers to be introduced to hunting and begin their lifelong appreciation and love for Maine’s sporting heritage.

LD 1166 allows Maine landowners who own five or more acres of land to hunt on their private land on Sundays. Maine landowners should be allowed to hunt on their property without having to get the permission of the State government.

LD 1241– allows Sunday hunting in Maine with a bow and arrow or a crossbow, by obtaining a Sunday hunting permit. In addition to allowing Mainers the opportunity to hunt on Sundays, it also allocates revenue from licenses and permits to benefit programs focused on supporting youth hunting education and programs.
