Kansas: Pro-Gun Bill Passes as House Committee Votes Down Attempts from Bloomberg Group to Amend

Gun Rights

Today, the House Committee on Federal and State Affairs passed pro-gun legislation, House Bill 2681, on a voice vote.  The measure passed after attempts from Moms Demand advocates to amend the measure were quickly squashed.  HB 2681 now heads to the House Floor for a full vote.  Please contact your State Representative and ask them to SUPPORT House Bill 2681.

House Bill 2681 clarifies the disposition of seized firearms in Kansas law.  HB 2681 prevents the wasteful and expensive practice of destroying firearms that could be re-circulated through a lawful individual or a licensed dealer.  Current Kansas law allows for seized guns to be wastefully destroyed or sold through a public auction or licensed dealers.  Returning firearms to lawful and legal owners is no different than efforts already in place by local authorities with regard to other pieces of valuable personal property (i.e. cash, jewelry, motor vehicle, etc.)

Again, please contact your State Representative and ask them to SUPPORT House Bill 2681.
