Utah: Enhanced Preemption Legislation Headed to the Governor

Gun Rights

Contact Governor Cox and request he sign this important legislation

Today, the Utah State Senate voted to concur with the House on Senate Bill 115, legislation to enhance Utah’s firearm preemption law. It will soon be transmitted to Governor Spencer Cox for his consideration. Please contact Gov. Cox and ask him to sign SB 115 into law.

Senate Bill 115 enhances Utah’s existing firearm preemption statute by providing a mechanism to ensure compliance. Firearm preemption occupies the field of firearm laws and regulations with the state, preventing localities from enacting their own gun control, which in turn could create a confusing patchwork of regulations and ordinances. This legislation will help ensure consistency in firearm laws throughout the state of Utah.
