Laredo Man Extradited from Mexico for Murder Charges

Jesus Guadalupe Covarrubias, a 39-year-old Laredo man, is extradited from Mexico to face serious charges including murder and illegal firearm possession. He is accused of involvement in the 2022 shooting death of Daniel Arroyo, which occurred outside a nightclub. Cobarrubias fled to Mexico after the incident but was apprehended by authorities in January 2023 following a lengthy investigation by U.S. Marshals and other law enforcement agencies.

In addition to the murder charge, Covarrubias faces allegations of being a felon in possession of a firearm, as well as facilitating the purchase of guns for others. The indictment, issued in October 2021, stems from evidence that he had been illegally buying and selling firearms since late 2019. With a court appearance scheduled for February 24, if convicted, he could face significant prison time for these charges.
