Fed Job Cuts and New Racket Club Launch in Philly

Federal job cuts have impacted Philadelphia as the Trump Administration’s reductions affect junior employees at the National Park Service and the Federal Aviation Authority. These firings mark a significant consequence of nationwide workforce reductions, prompting local reporting on the wider implications for Philadelphia’s federal operations and workforce stability.

In more positive news, the city will soon welcome a unique racket club transforming a former parking lot into a facility for pickleball and padel, the first of its kind in Philadelphia. Headed by Drexel University’s Men’s Tennis director, Mehdi Rhazali, the VIVA Pickleball & Padel Club is set to open this spring, featuring four courts each for pickleball and padel, alongside a community space for events and social interaction, promoting a greater appreciation for racket sports across the region.
