Lynchburg Opens City Land for Bow Hunting Permits

Lynchburg municipal officials announce the opening of certain city-owned parcels for bow hunting, aimed at reducing the local deer population. A comprehensive list of suitable properties, which includes wooded areas on Kavanaugh Road and Warren Avenue, has been released along with a new permitting process for applicants interested in bow hunting on these sites.

The decision follows a relaxed urban archery ordinance approved by the City Council last September, which also permits coyote hunting and lowers the height requirement for hunting stands. With hunting allowed from September through March, bow hunters can request short-term hunting passes by contacting local wildlife officials, but must adhere to specific city regulations regarding hunting proximity to public areas and roadways.
