OPINION: Democratic ticket has a terrible gun rights record

Gun Rights

Last Tuesday, presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris picked anti-gun radical and current Minnesota governor Tim Walz as her vice-presidential running mate.

Unfortunately for the anti-gun forces vying for control of the White House via the Harris-Walz ticket, we have receipts exposing Harris and Walz for the shameless gun grabbers they are.

Harris is a long-time advocate for a national ban on the roughly 80% of common-use firearms that her party has arbitrarily labeled “assault weapons.” “We continue — and we all continue — to fight for an assault weapons ban,” declared the Vice President to a Denver crowd during a campaign stop in March.

Under Kamala’s vice presidency, the Biden-Harris Administration imposed new restrictions on pistol brace assistance devices designed to help injured veterans fire their handguns safely.

Unsatisfied with the number of bureaucratic agencies that only exist to undermine the Second Amendment, the Biden-Harris administration created two more: a national red flag resource center aimed at weaponizing state governments to confiscate firearms, and the first-ever “White House Office of Gun Grabbers” (officially the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, but that’s a euphemism), of which Kamala is the appointed leader.

During her tenure as the most liberal member of the United States Senate, Harris co-sponsored new restrictions on firearms, accessories, “large-capacity magazines,” 3D-printed guns, bump stocks, and a bill expanding the category of Americans who are outright barred from bearing arms.

As California Attorney General, Harris spearheaded the effort to pass her home state’s red flag law, making California the third state in the country to adopt the egregious gun confiscation policy.

We could go on listing every example of Harris’ anti-gun record. But, like the numerous bloated omnibus bills they’ve crammed down on us under Harris’ leadership, not even she would read the 3,000-page dumpster fire that is her record.

Instead, we’ll turn our attention to her running mate.

VP candidate Tim Walz openly celebrated his “F” rating from the NRA, supported an “assault weapons” ban, passed red flag gun confiscation, and outlawed binary triggers in Minnesota. Like his new boss Kamala, Walz is nothing more than a darling Bloomberg gun grabber with a proven record of getting into office just to do the bidding of the anti-gun lobby.

While we are confident the Democratic establishment will attempt to paint Harris-Walz as a moderate ticket to bolster their electoral prospects, the record doesn’t lie. Harris-Walz is the most vehemently anti-gun ticket we have seen in recent history. A Harris-Walz administration would be a disaster for the Second Amendment and responsible gun owners everywhere.

In stark contrast, CSSA-endorsed candidate and former President Donald Trump has been an outspoken and effective advocate for the Second Amendment.

It was President Trump who appointed three of the Supreme Court Justices who gave us the Bruen ruling — a landmark precedent that fortified constitutional muster for gun laws and paved the way for victory over Second Amendment infringements nationwide.

Under Harris’ and Walz’s leadership, their respective constituents have only seen their rights mocked and eroded. President Trump delivered real results, defending and expanding our God-given right to keep and bear arms.

This election is critically important for the Second Amendment. Americans should cast their votes wisely. For gun owners, the choice is clear.
