State Representative Cody Harris Introduces Legislation to Protect Foster Parent Gun Owner Privacy

Gun Rights

The 2023 session of the Texas Legislature began this week. Your State Representative, Cody Harris, has introduced House Bill 1229, which prohibits state agencies and child placement agencies from requesting current or prospective foster parents to provide a registry of firearms in their household. Rep. Harris has been a champion for the Second Amendment rights of foster parents, passing legislation during the 2021 session easing requirements for foster parents who store firearms in their foster homes for protection. He believes that the state should be encouraging families to foster children and that removing roadblocks to exercising their constitutional rights responsibly is one of those ways. NRA thanks Rep. Harris for his work and fully supports HB 1229!
