U.S. Rep. Ken Buck, R-Windsor, landed a coveted endorsement Wednesday from the National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund entering the Republican primary election.

“I am proud to once again be endorsed by the NRA,” Buck said. “Coloradans know that I will always be a steadfast and ardent defender of our 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms.”

Election Day is June 28. In-person voting is held 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. The final day to register as a voter and still receive a ballot in the mail is June 20.

Buck is seeking election to his fifth term representing Northeast and Eastern Colorado. He previously served from 2005-14 as the Weld County district attorney. He is opposed by Bob Lewis in the primary election, and the winner will face Ike McCorkle in the general election. Buck gathered 60 percent of the vote in 2020 to defeat McCorkle, who earned 36.6 percent. Buck won 21 of 22 counties in the district.

“Thank you for standing strong for freedom and defending NRA members and law-abiding gun owners in Colorado and throughout the country,” the endorsement letter from NRA-PVF Chairman Jason Ouimet reads.

He received an “A” rating from the NRA, a score reserved for only the most consistently supportive pro-gun legislators on key votes and issues to the NRA and its more than five million members.

“You have stood strong against President [Joe] Biden and [House] Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s unrelenting assault on law-abiding gun owners,” the endorsement letter continues.

A key vote the endorsement considered was Buck’s opposition to universal background checks, which would criminalize the private transfer of firearms among two law-abiding citizens. He was additionally praised for upholding due process protections for gun owners and preventing indefinite delays on firearm purchases, turning a fundamental right into a privilege, the endorsement reads.

Also noted were Buck’s positions on self-defense and right-to-carry reciprocity legislation, furthering to protect those Americans authorized in one state to carry a concealed firearm to do so in another state that does not prohibit concealed carry, the endorsement reads.

“Make no mistake: I will continue to fight everyday against Joe Biden and the far-left’s dangerous agenda to impose unconstitutional gun control measures on the American people,” Buck said.

Buck has continued to oppose banning of lawfully-owned firearms, ammunition and magazines, the endorsement reads.

“Thank you for your strong support of the 2nd Amendment,” the endorsement concludes.
