Rep. Yoho’s Aide Cammack Likely to Keep FL-3 Republican

Gun Rights

Democrats’ hopes of capturing the northeastern Florida seat of retiring Republican Rep. Ted Yoho seem to be diminishing as Nov. 3 grows nearer.

Although no polls have been conducted, Republican Kat Cammack — former deputy chief of staff to Yoho and a fervent supporter of President Donald Trump — is expected to emerge triumphant over 27-year-old political newcomer and Democrat Adam Christensen.

A Republican for most of his life, small business owner Christensen became a Democrat shortly before running for Congress on a progressive platform. Among the planks in his platform are universal healthcare and a strong gun control stance.

In contrast, Cammack, 32, has vowed to be a voice for conservative millennials who happen to be women and is a proud member of the National Rifle Association.

Democrats initially banked on picking up the Sunshine State’s 3rd District after Cammack won the rancorous, 10-candidate Republican primary with about 25% of the vote. But since the primary, most of the runners-up and their supporters have come over to Cammack and Republicans appear united as early voting goes on.

The 3rd District has been in Republican hands since 1988.
