The Article Is Behind A Paywall, But The Headline Is True

Gun News

A commentary in the Baltimore Sun is headlined “Guns protect people from criminals when the Police cannot.” Since whatever is in the body of the commentary, the headline at least is true. Particularly in Baltimore.

The last word I had, a response to a 911 call takes more than ten minutes. the mean time for a rape is six minutes, leaving someone damaged for life, even if the rape did not end in murder.

How far can a man run in four minutes? Far enough to establish an alibi, certainly.

By the same token, an armed robbery normally takes less than four minutes. A man can have his gun out join an armed robbery in seconds – but ordinary police response will give a criminal six minutes to get away.

An Aggravated assault or a murder are often over in seconds, giving the criminal all of the 911 response time to get away.

What about mass shootings? If no one present has the means to defend everyone, the mean number of dead in a mass shooting is 14.9, essentially 17. But if someone has a gun to defend everyone with, the mean casualty total is just 2.7. Plus the assailant in either case.

As for restrictive gun laws cutting crime, we have the 525 year history of those laws, and more than 3,000 years of the history on laws restricting possession of other defensive weaons such as swords and slings, and offensive weapons such as bows. Not even one of the 58,303 restrictive gun laws has ever been followed by reduced crime rates, lower murder rates, less frequent political assassinations, or provided anything a sane person would consider a benefit.

And the restrictions on swords, slings, bows, and other weapons have an even worse record. here is the record of gun control in Maryland, which can be verified from FBU Data, here: http://www.disastercenter.com/crime/mdcrime.htm

As you can see, when there were no serious restrictions on buying and keeping guns, violent crime rates were fery low. But a gun control campaign resulted in a greater than 300% increase in violent crime in just 5 years.

And then Federal gun laws were imposed, steepening the slope of the rise, leading to an overall 550 percent rise in violent crime in just ten years.

And the rates stayed at that high level until the patient work of Maryland’s most law abiding demographic began relaxing the level of enforcement and relaxing the laws themselves, bringing on a slow reduction in violent crime until another gun control campaign began to drive up violent crime rates in 2014.

The Trump economy held the rise down, but there was still a major rise in violent crime. And now, with the coronavirus pandemic costing millions their livelihood, reported crimes are headed over the moon again. Baltimore itself reportedly has 207 homicides with 155 days left in the year Frp, the year so far, and past history, Baltimore will probably bury 372ue
