What should be of interest is the results of those laws the ban activists tout and spend billions to impose. The graph below was taken from a University of Padua study titled in part, Reversal of Misfortune, on the rise in crime in Europe as crime in the US declined.
The chart provides an overview of the US’ relaxing gun laws, the UK’s almost total ban on firearms, and the EU demanded tightening of gun laws in the major European States.
This chart is of overall violent crime, not just homicide, because the UK pretends it is not fair to call a man a murderer until he has been tried, convicted, and gone through the appeals process. The UK’s conviction rate is about 32%, and the state murder rate is about 1 per 100,000 population. About the same as the US homicide rate for those of European descent, without creating puzzles.
That pointed out, the US violent crime rate is the solid trace, while the line soaring upward on the right represents the UKI’s violent crime rate after guns were banned. The decline shown on the end never happened, it is a product of throwing out complaints not investigated, complaints never investigated, and complaints deemed not credible. When the gun ban was imposed the UK’s violent crime rate was 450 per 100,000 population, today that rate is 2800 per 100,000.
But when the US States began relaxing gun laws, the violent crime rate was 757 per 100,000 population. For 2018, the last year data is available, the violent crime rate was 390 per 100,000. The UK banned guns, and had a 622% in crime, while many US States softened restrictive gun laws, and had a 50 percent decline in violent crime. Was that unusual?
No, that has been the experience with restrictive gun laws since Duke Hildebrand imposed the first restrictive gun law in 1495. This Earth has seen an unbroken series of 58,303 restrictive gun laws that have failed at reducing crime of any sort, failed at making anyone safer, failed at preventing political assassinations, and in general failed to provide anything a sane person would call a benefit, and constitute the longest string of unbroken failures in recorded history.
Despite the bloody history of gun control, whose record includes more than 300 Million victims during the 20th Century alone, those who cannot bring themselves to look at the facts, and those whose being recoils in terror at the thought of a neighbor who owns a gun continue to push for gun control, which only provides benefits to criminals.
